Last updated: 23 April 2026
You have the right to request that we delete the personal information we hold about you, in accordance with the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 (POPIA) and Meta's data deletion requirements for Facebook Login.
Option A — Delete your account in the app (recommended)
- Open Visit Gauteng at marketplace.gauteng.net and log in.
- Tap More in the bottom navigation bar.
- Go to Account Settings.
- Scroll to the Danger Zone section and tap Delete Account.
- Confirm when prompted. All personal data will be deleted within 30 days.
Option B — Email request (if you cannot log in)
If you logged in via Facebook and no longer have access to your account, email [email protected] with:
- Subject line: Facebook Data Deletion Request
- The name associated with your Facebook account.
- The email address associated with your Facebook account.
We will verify the request, process the deletion, and reply with a confirmation code within 30 days.

- Your profile information (display name, avatar, phone number).
- All Live feed posts you authored (author attribution removed from posts shared by others).
- All inbox messages addressed to you.

What is retained and why
- Order records for completed purchases — retained for 5 years as required by the South African Revenue Service. These records are stripped of personally identifying information to the legal minimum.
- Anonymised aggregate usage statistics — no personally identifying information retained.
- Data deletion request log — a record that a deletion was requested and completed, containing only your confirmation code, is retained for accountability.
